Yesterday was my grandmother’s birthday. We all said she would live until 90, at the very least. When I think of her, or dream of her, everything else seems trivial. The blankets you sewed, the cards you lay down, the fingers and toes you pulled, the candies in your metal tin. I only wonder if she can see me from heaven, and if she saw me win those mahjong games with my parents.
